Wet-on-Wet Techniques
Maddie GartmannDescription
Maddie starts with a square cookie, piping carefully around the edges. She then uses flood icing to fill the rest of the cookie, working from the center out to the edges. She uses her scribe tool to work the icing over the entire cookie, noting that a toothpick or skewer will also work if a scribe tool is not available. While the cookie is still wet, Maddie uses blue flood icing to add polka dots to the cookie. The blue dots settle into the white icing, and once it has dried, Maddie is left with perfectly flat, polka-dotted icing.
Next, Maddie continues to work the wet-on-wet technique by adding simple yet stunning hearts to a cookie—perfect for weddings, Valentine’s Day, or bridal showers. She also demonstrates how to create two-toned flowers, one of her favorite designs to use on cookie.
