Using a Telephoto Lens to Capture Compression Images

Jim Zuckerman
Duration:   1  mins

Description

To create those extraordinary compression images you see in professional photographs, you need to be using a telephoto lens. In a historic Massachusetts cemetery, professional shooter Jim Zuckerman employs his telephoto to create a dramatic compression image.

He spots a pattern of old gravestones, sets his aperture at f22 for deep depth of field, and shoots the rim-lighted rows of flat headstones as semi-silhouettes. Result? The telephoto format compresses the objects and creates a beautiful artistic pattern.

Join pro photographer Jim Zuckerman in a New England cemetery as he shows you how to create your own compression image with the telephoto lens.
