Syncopated Brioche
Michele Lee BernsteinDescription
If you are familiar with Brioche knitting, you’ll want to give Syncopated Brioche a try. This technique of Brioche knitting is simply switching the brioche knit (BrK) stitches to brioche purl (BrP) stitches and vice versa. This creates an interesting effect in the fabric and can be used to create all kinds of designs and patterns. In this video, Michele Lee Bernstein demonstrates Syncopated Brioche basics.
Michele begins by working the light color yarn and working a conventional brioche rib pattern. At the stitch marker, she switches from working brioche knit stitches to brioche purl stitches. This process is repeated with the dark color yarn. She works several rows to show how the fabric changes when the stitches are changed. She notes that it is important to double check your work at the stitch marker. It’s easy to miss the yarn over at the marker when switching from brioche knits to brioche purls and vice versa.
