With a large round piping tip and American style crusting buttercream, Rachael steps you though icing mini cupcakes to create a smooth top with even edges, similar to fondant. Then Rachael applies three types of sprinkles – tiny round nonpareil sprinkles, colorful tubular jimmies and sanding sugar in three different styles. First, she applies sprinkles to the entire cupcake, then only the edges and lastly just the top. Included are Rachael’s tips and tricks on using a crusting buttercream with the powdered sugar method.
