Preparing for a Wilderness Adventure

Layne Kennedy
Duration:   7  mins

Description

Depending on the length of stay and location of your wilderness expedition, you may need ample prep time. Layne Kennedy shares his tips for preparing and packing for a photography trip.

Wilderness photography can require significant preparation, depending on the circumstances. If you’re camping for a week, you’ll need all your gear and extra camera batteries, but if you’re staying in a lodge, you can bring extra batteries and even a laptop for downloading. In this session, photographer Layne Kennedy displays a variety of bags he uses for his camera gear, highlighting the benefits of each (his choice often depends on how wet the shooting conditions will be).

If you’re new to wilderness adventures, you might want to consider hiring an outfitter, as Layne did, to quickly and efficiently get to your destination.
