Photographing Shamrock Glacier & Mt. Spurr
Doug GardnerDescription
They hike a bear trail to get to the glacier. Working with a telephoto zoom lens, Doug shows you how to photograph the Shamrock glacial lake, iceberg formations, ridge lines, and the snow-covered Mount Spurr. You need to slightly underexpose for the whites to capture detail. A polarizing filter also helps to deepen blues and greens. For composition, you want to look at the scenes through different lenses and from various angles. Later on, the men fly over the Mount Spur volcano where Doug captures melting waterfalls coming off the mountain.
