      Description

Travel to Grand Teton National Park with outdoor photographer Doug Gardner for tips on photographing bison in the wild. Always remember bison can be dangerous, so you’ll need to stay at least 25 yards away from the herd and use a long telephoto lens. The goal is to capture the animals behaving naturally.

Shooting in flat light under gray skies, you need to set your camera at aperture priority and increase the shutter speed for exposure compensation. This technique adds depth and also captures details. Since the animals are on the move, Doug shoots at a high ISO and a high shutter speed.

Join pro shooter Doug Gardner for his expertise in photographing bison in early winter.
