Photographing a Spruce-Fir Forest

Doug and Bill begin this session in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and continue to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Both locations have scenic overlooks and pull-outs where visitors can stop their vehicles without halting traffic. Although the location is called a spruce-fir forest, Doug points out that there are many other varieties of trees that live there, which contribute to the color changes in fall. They visit a leg of the 2,000-mile-long Appalachian Trail as well.

In this session you will learn about some lens and filter choices that can enhance your photos and some special considerations for shooting the fog and mist that gave the mountains their name. You will also get some important tips for choosing a tripod for a variety of terrains.
