Little Fountain Pattern
Jen LucasDescription
The Little Fountain stitch pattern is a small lace stitch pattern that is worked over 4 rows. In this video, knitting expert Jen Lucas explains how to work this stitch pattern.
To begin, Jen shows a completed swatch of the Little Fountain stitch pattern. She notes that this stitch pattern is interesting because the increases used to create the lace are worked on the first row of the pattern; however, the decreases aren’t worked until the third row of the pattern. Most lace patterns have the increases and decreases paired together all on one row.
LITTLE FOUNTAIN STITCH PATTERN
Working the stitch pattern over a multiple of 4 stitches plus 1 stitch, Jen works the following rows on her swatch:
Row 1 (RS): *K1, yo, k3, yo; rep from * to last st, k1.
After Row 1 there is now a multiple of 6 plus 1 stitches on the needle.
Row 2: Purl all stitches.
Row 3: *K2, sk2p, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
After Row 3 the stitches have been decreased and there is now a multiple of 4 plus 1 stitches on the needle.
Row 4: Purl all stitches.
Rep Rows 1 – 4 for pattern.
