Crocheted granny square motifs have so many possibilities and are a blast to make. Create them with a variety of color combinations to make something truly unique. This daisy granny square is a crocheted motif with a 3D element that makes the flowers appear to pop right out of the square. In this video, Mister Domestic shares how he likes to create this motif.

DAISY GRANNY SQUARE

Mister Domestic is using 3 colors for his granny square. He works the motif as follows:

Leaving a 6-inch tail, create a magic ring with color 1.

Round 1: With color 1, ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc into ring and pull tail to close ring. Sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. Fasten off. 12 dc

Round 2: Sl st to join color 2, beg popcorn in first st, ch 2, [popcorn, ch 2] around. Sl st in top of beg popcorn to join. Fasten off. 12 popcorn total.

Round 3: Sl st in ch-sp to join color 3, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in first ch-sp, [ (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-sp) twice, ch 1 (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-sp] 3 times, (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-sp) twice, ch 1, 3 dc beg ch-sp, ch 2, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join.

Round 4: Continuing with color 3, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), [(3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) to ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1] 3 times, (3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) to beg ch-2 sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in beg ch-sp, sl st in third ch of beg ch to join. Fasten off.

Popcorn: 5 tr in same stitch, remove loop from hook. Insert hook under both loops of the top of the first tr in the group. Place loop back on hook and pull through stitch
