Crocheting a Block Edging

Looking for a more dramatic edging to add to your next crochet project? In this video, crochet expert Corrina Ferguson demonstrates how to create a block edging that’s perfect for crocheted afghans, baby blankets, and more.
To create this edging, Corrina is using chains and triple (or treble) crochets. She works the edging as follows:
Ch 3, *sk next 3 stitches, tr in next stitch, ch 4, 4 tr around the post of the tr just created; repeat from * to around.
If using the same color that was used in the project, the yarn is already attached, and the edging is ready to be worked. If changing color, attach the new color with a slip stitch to join and then work the edging following the instructions above.
When it comes time to go around the corner, Corrina doesn’t add any additional stitches into the corner, because the edging has so much stretch. She will try to plan that a block goes in the corner of the piece, fudging the edging slightly at the corner to make that happen. When working down the side, she notes that it’s more of an art than a science. The stitch pattern used in the piece will determine how many spaces/rows to skip. Take your time, space them evenly, and your edging will look great!
