The crocheted market bag is constructed from the bottom-up. A chain is started at the bottom center and is then worked in the round. Once the base of the market bag is complete, the body of the bag is worked. The body of the market bag is worked with alternating sections of double crochet and a shell stitch pattern. The side panels of the bag are worked in double crochet, for added sturdiness. Once the body of the bag is complete, a strap made of single crochet is created.
Corrina notes that not only can this be used as a market bag, but this project would also make a great beach bag. It’s easy to make the bag a little bit bigger and deeper by working additional rows in the body portion of the project.
