      SUNRAY SHELL

      Corrina works this shell stitch to create a panel. This panel can easily be inserted into any crochet project! She creates the pattern as follows:

      Ch 22.

      Foundation Row: Shell in sixth ch from hook, ch 3, skip 4 ch, sc in next ch, ch 5, skip 4 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 4 ch, shell in next ch, dc in last ch, turn.

      Row 1: Ch 3, shell in ch-sp from shell below, ch 2, sc in next ch-3 sp, 7 dc in next ch-5 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch-2 shell in ch1 sp from shell below, dc in top of ch-3, turn.

      Row 2: Ch 3, shell in ch-sp from shell below, dc in first of 7 dc, (ch1, dc in next dc) 6 times, shell in ch-sp from shell below, dc in top of ch-3, turn.

      Row 3: Ch 3, shell in ch-sp from shell below, skip next ch-1 sp, popcorn in next ch-1 sp, (ch 3, popcorn in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, skip next ch-1 sp, shell in ch-sp from shell below, dc in top of ch-3, turn.

      Row 4: Ch 3, shell in ch-sp from shell below, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 5, skip next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, shell in ch-sp from shell below, dc in top of ch-3, turn.

      Repeat Rows 1 – 4, ending with Row 4, until piece is desired length. Fasten off.

      ABBREVIATIONS & SPECIAL STITCHES

      ch: chain

      dc: double crochet

      sc: single crochet

      sp: space

      Popcorn: 3 dc in same stitch, remove loop from hook. Insert hook under both loops of the top of the first dc in the group. Place loop back on hook and pull through stitch.

      Shell: 2dc, ch1, 2dc in same st or sp.
