Capturing Bison in Grand Teton National Park

Bison are the largest land animals in North America. In this video, pro wildlife photographer Doug Gardner takes you to Grand Teton National Park for tips on photographing a bison herd.

You will learn how to identify male and female bison through the shape of their horns, why it’s safest to set up no closer than 100 yards from the herd, and how to measure the light. The problem with exposure is that the bison are black, the prairie grass is light gold, and the skylight is always changing. You will learn how to adjust your exposures depending on if you are shooting a close-up or a wide shot
