Then, Alexandria offers a surprisingly easy technique for cutting the base panels out of gum paste.
Start on your first cake as you learn how to use a variety of stamps to create a captivating old-world design for your panel's background. Then, learn how to make a custom silicone mold out of any object as you add a dramatic keyhole frame to the middle of your cake.
Add a textured base trim using a simple ruler, and a decorative rococo-style frame using a single leaf mold. You won't believe the variations you can get from just one mold! Then, top your cake with two crossed keys and gild all of your embellishments with luscious gold paint.
Create a beautiful two-tier panel with a tutorial in romantic landscape painting as Alexandria offers tips for portraying perspective and building up highlights and shadows. With Alexandria's guidance, you won't believe the results you'll get, even if you don't consider yourself an artist!
Build an ornate frame using molded gum paste strips as you trace your panel and echo it with an additional frame. Be amazed at the ease with which you can add intricate molded roses and a stately hand-modeled fleur-de-lis topper. Then, create an antiqued silver effect as you hand-paint the frame and embellishments with gold and silver dusts.
Evoke 18th century grandeur as you re-create the picturesque Toile cake. Using the stencil provided, learn how to build on it with easy freehand details and incorporate washes as you create the panel for this cake. Pick up professional tips for simple stenciling and add a beautiful painted rose garland and gold highlights.
Create an intricate, gilded double frame as you finish this amazing, show-stopping cake. First, outline your toile-inspired panel with an embossed egg-and-dart frame before you add a laurel wreath around it. Finally, build a finial topper for the ultimate in opulence.
